FAQ: FAQ

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

This is the number 1 question that most people ask!

Acupuncture can provoke a local sensory response of localised tingling or slight tugging sensation.  It is not unusual to feel sensations in other parts of the body - this is because the channels of energy flow to all sorts of places in the body!

Acupuncture very rarely causes any major discomfort and the reason for this is that Acupuncture needles are extremely fine.  Some are similar to a human hair. An acupuncture needle is a fraction of the size of a medical needle, used, for instance, for a blood test.

What should I wear?

Loose comfortable clothing is the best option.  Joggers, T-shirts, even PJs!!

What will my first session be like?

The first session is all about getting to know you.  It takes time to go through a detailed health history with you and to then work out a treatment plan individually tailored for you.  Getting to know all about you is important because the aim of acupuncture is to find the root cause of disharmony in the body and to work from that.  This in turn, may help to benefit many ailments that you may have.

How many treatments will I need:

Your acupuncture treatments are guided by the response you have.  But usually a minimum of 6 treatments are needed.
